The patch makes sense to me, I imagine that I stuck with max-jobs=1 for 
fear of broken parallel builds. But if it works on many-core machine 
then the fears are unfounded I guess. Maybe 4 years ago when this code 
was written things were different :-)

As for upgrading GCC in Baserock, I believe it's been tried before but 
there's some issue where GCC 6 can't build GCC 5, which obviously makes 
it difficult to bootstrap GCC 6. I've not had time to look myself.
