Hi,
I read the new drobe article about the progress of NetSurf and was quite
ipressed - so I wanted to try it by myself. But I can not reach any site. I
am working with Virtual RiscPC and this might well be the reason. I have
similar problems with Oregano 1, too.
So is there any experience with VRPC and any workaround?
Then I tried a local HTML file on my harddisc but this refused to load
either. Just nothing happend - is dragging HTML files to the iconbar or to
the window not suppored, yet?

Tell me, with whatever other browsers you have installed on VRPC could
you goto www.ebay.co.uk and tell me what happens?
I have found that Browse, Oregano2demo and Oregano2 (full), WXL and
Fresco all fail to browse this site and also take down the OS in a
horrible way. Only with VRPC.
I'd be interested to see if anyone else has this problem with VRPC.

Just so I can be absolutely sure of this, you can browse www.ebay.co.uk
with Browse, Fresco and O2Demo, click on catogories and have the pages
display (try a couple of them) without anything nasty happening?

It seems as if I am the only one having the problems I'm having and yet
I've tried VRPC on three completely different machines, all with the
same result.

Does accessing a site by IP address, eg. http://66.102.11.99/
(= www.google.com) work? If it works, this indicates something wrong with DNS.
Type *Show Inet$Resolvers in a TaskWindow, and check that this is a
space-separated list of DNS servers.
Otherwise, please send me !NetSurf.stderr.

Dragging files in is not implemented, but double-clicking a HTML file in the
Filer will work, as long as NetSurf is on the iconbar.

Yes, thanks, that was the reason. There was no DNS entry at all and after
entering one it works very well.

That works, too. Didn't try before because I had another browser running at
the same time who opened the website.
I have to say that I am very impressed by NetSurf. At the beginning of the
project I thought it is just another try and that the project is to hugh to
be ever "completed".
But now it was even possible to load rather complex sites like
www.drobe.co.uk, www.iconbar.com, www.spiegel.de or www.digitalkamera.de and
they look really good. Seems to have some problems with easier sites like
www.arcsite.de - but I'm sure that will be solved in future. And the
history-thumbnail-feature is really nice!
