Aside from the illegality of the domain name, the nonsense it displays
here in nsgtk is a Flash applet that is being served up with an
incorrect MIME type. It's being severed up as text/html, and they are
attempted to override it in the HTML, which is not valid. As far as I
can tell, it has nothing to do with the <base> tag. This is assuming
we're thinking about the same problem: you've not actually described
the issue you are having.

Perfect sense? In what way? By allowing digits as the first
characters in such segments, it means much more work has to be done to
confirm if it is an IP address or not, and older systems correctly
wanted to avoid this, which is why the protocol forbids it, but it just
happens to work with modern software. This is much in the same way
that many "forbidden" practises are common place in the DNS system
(such as CNAMEs pointing to CNAMEs) - just because they happen to work
on most machines doesn't make them right. And people like 3com should
really know better!

No, I am not a PHP fan. Partly because it's dreadful and encourages
sloppy engineering, but mainly because so many people who use it
shouldn't be allowed near it. It is the Visual Basic of web site
development systems, except with a far far worse security and
performance track record.

It isn't illegal. The restriction that the first character of a host
name cannot be a digit was removed years ago. See RFC 1123, section 2.1.

print out via a Windows machine (I wish I didn't have to!) so I tried
to save it as a pdf or Draw file, which Nesurf offers and then convert
the Draw file to gif, which InterGif does reliably.
But it doesn't work! I get the text, but not the map. It may be that
Multimap is trying to stop its map being copied.

That doesn't work for me; I just get the text only as Michael says.
However, if I click on the map and then do save as object, I can save
the map as a png file. DPlngScan will then convert this to a jpg,

Thank you both for this. By clicking on the map itself, I exported a
Draw file. When I looked at it, it was the complete page, frame + map.
InterGif, which is normally so reliable, converted it to a blank gif.
Why? But by clicking on the map itself, I exported as an object to a
PNG file, which printed OK on my Dell machine.
So, all OK. But what a palaver!

SARPC on RISC OS 6.10 Netsurf r5632 (26th October) to HPLJ 5P
Clicked the link and the map page was displayed on screen, clicked the Ns
Printer tool icon.
Here the Map prints, though a bit messily, straight from the as is Netsurf
page to the printer.
Additionally, if I click on the "Print this page" (Towards top right of
the page), I get a new page that is printer friendly, click on the Netsurf
print tool button and the page prints perfectly.
The only way I could get it to *NOT* print the map, was if I clicked the
mouse pointer in the area that comtained the text, top left, which I guess
is understandable the way the page is constructed.

I was able to export the page as a drawfile. The map was intact but I lost
some of the other text. I was able to ungroup the map n number of times then
select the map (which was only one object) & export it for printing.

It /really/ is /much/ simpler to click menu over the map, then Object,
Export, Sprite, and drag it into an app for printing.

. . .in fact I've just remembered - all you have to do is
<Ctrl>+<Adjust+Drag> to export a bitmap object as a sprite to an
application.
