Appreciating that cookie revision is still WIP I thought to report
here rather than raise a bug report.
For many moons I have been using the 'latest' version of Netsurf to
carry out internet banking with Barclays - with no problem at all.
Today, doing my monthly visit (using the 2 May version of Netsurf) I
have had many problems - and had to revert to my linux server and Firefox
to do what was needed.
The problems and symptoms are as follows -
(1) "Your browser does not support session cookies" - it does of
course, since this message arose only after attempting to re-log-in
after a previous error report. Reloading Netsurf permitted me to try
again without this message appearing until some other error was
reported and an attempt made to continue.
(2) "You have either pressed the Stop button or double-clicked on a
button" - in fact I had done neither of these. This error seemed to
arise when I clicked on the area of the document close to a button -
perhaps just missing the button - but I did not click more than once -
just to be absolutely sure, I made this error occur several times
(having to reload Netsurf to avoid the cookie problem each time).
(3) "You have used the Back button on your browser" - again I had not
done so. This error came up on attempting to do anything after a
'first banking action'. I'm sorry I cannot pin it down more closely
than this since, when it occurred, I had followed different sequences
Of course, I appreciate that Barclays may well have changed their html
in the four weeks since I last needed to log in - but, since Netsurf cookie
revision is, as I said, WIP I felt that I ought to raise these problems
(which seem rather weird to me) here in the first instance.
Incidentally, Firefox had no problems. I am almost certain that none
of the documents used any scripting either - Barclays have never done that
so far (although Barclaycard do).
It was most disappointing to have to work on my server as I have used
nothing else but Netsurf for quite a long time now (if sites are
sufficiently foolish as to want to use a scripting language I just ignore
Keep up the good work!
