Yes; there's a workaround for this in CVS. RUfl will now ignore
fonts
generated by RiScript[1] or fonts in the !TeXFonts resource (one of which
causes the Font Manager to hang the machine).
This will make its way onto the autobuilder in due course, but I
wouldn't
expect it this side of Christmas ;)
John.
1. I believe that RiScript allows the user to configure where
auto-generated fonts are stored. RUfl currently checks for "!RiScript"
occurring in the path to the font data. This will work for RiScript's
default generated font location but is not guaranteed to do so if you
use the aforementioned configuration option.
Instead of looking for !RiScript, I suggest write it to look for !Generated.
This is the default name of RiScript's special fonts folder, and is less
likely to be altered than its location, which as you say, is configurable.
(One) reason for the config option, is to allow for !RiScript to be held on a
read-only medium, such as a FSLocked hard disc, or a read-only share. The
same reasoning lay behind a request a month ago for a small change to the
NetSurf !Run file, so it is logical to maintain Netsurf's ability to run from
a locked medium, which will simultaneously affect RiScript of course!
Looking for !Generated will make it possible to use the above RS config
option, maybe with a documented warning not to alter that name for the Fonts
folder.
