The easiest solution is to rename html3_in to html3_in.gif, which
will cause the server to send an image/gif type instead of
text/plain.
OK. Hadn't realised it hadn't got the extension. Surprised it hasn't
caused problems before. Changed it now. Thanks.

At the moment we use the RISC OS JPEG renderer, which doesn't
understand some images. We plan to fix this too :).
Strange it should do one and not the other!
