Google Books do not show pages any longer
by Roger Darlington
I suppose someone knows that Google Books does not show the pages any
longer in any version of Netsurf I have. One 2 years old, NS 3.2, and
a test build from today.
It used to work fine, but Google must have put some spanners in their
works.

Disc cache updates
by Vincent Sanders
The disc cache has recently been updated to track the speed of write
operations.
The implementation of this briefly introduced a bug generating
excessive logging (seen as heavy disc writing and cpu load) which has
been squished and CI build #2413 should not have the problem.
As a result of this performance tracking The browser will now detect
if a system cannot sustain a write speed of one Megabit (120kilobytes
/ second) the cache will disable itself and display a warning.
If this continues to occur the cache is simply not useful on that
system and should be configured off (by setting the cache size to 0)
The Megabit limit is a practical value derived from
experimentation. It in envisaged that the lower disc bandwidth may be
tuneable in future based on the users network connection but this needs
investigation and careful checking.

I have also seen pages rendered without the css but I sometimes see this
on Firefox with my much faster office PC.

Dictionary.com
by Nick Roberts
The website
http://www.dictionary.com/
is supposed to have a field where one can type in a word to look up.
This field is either not present or invisible in NetSurf CI#2600.

Malformed site (partly OT).
by Peter Young
I maintain the website of the local branch of the Multiple Sclerosis
Society, at www.mssociety.org.uk/cheltenham (NB I am only responsible
for the content, not the formatting). From time to time the site gets
seriously malformed in RISC OS NetSurf, and then a few days later goes
back to what is should be. Screenshots of this are at
http://pnyoung.orpheusweb.co.uk/Chrome.jpg as it should be in Chrome on Windows and
http://pnyoung.orpheusweb.co.uk/NetSurf.jpg as it was yesterday in NetSurf #2600, but it's back to how it should be this morning! Same NetSurf build.
I imagine this is the fault of the site rather than of NetSurf, but I
would value comments. (OT) If it is the fault of the site, I have a
feeling that they may be contravening guidance about website
accessibility for disabled people, and I would be interested in
comments about this also.
Best wishes,
Peter.

first impression

I got NetSurf with Ubuntu on my Chromebook. I gave it a try today. Thanks
for making an alternative browser! Here's a page that doesn't render very
well. I thought you might be able to use in a test suite:

(I was logged in from another browser and wanted to see what my profile
page looked like when not logged in.)
