Google search problem
by Graham Pickles
Recently I have had problem on my laptop using Google to search for
items. The problem appears to be intermittent. I enter the search
criteria into Google and Netsurf indicates 'Fetching, Fetching,
Processing' but goes no further (i.e. message remains and list of sites
does not appear). I have tried different search critria and the problem
is not even reproducible with the same search criteria but occurs fairly
frequently and is theefore highly annoying. Not aware of the problem
outside Google (which performs OK with Mozilla Firefox on the Windows XP
side of my machine).
I am running on VRPC Risc OS4.02 and am currently using Netsurf 3.2 Dev.
#1819 though I seem to have had same the problem with other recent
development versions and also with the latest main issue of Netsurf 3.1
(28 Apr 2014).
Any ideas? I have not, consciously, changed anything that might cause he
problem and have not seen anyone else reporting a similar problem so
assume it is something to do with my machine setup.
Regards,

Netsurf on arm linux sdl framebuffer.
by samuel zimmer
Seem like my first message got all garble up. Trying plain text.
I have a strange problem with netsurf on an arm system(TomTom one V3)
Some stats about my toolchain
gcc 3.3.4
glibc 2.3.2
binutils 2.14.90.0.5
curl-7.35.0
libpng 1.2.51
libxml2 2.9.1
openssl 1.0.0l
SDL 1.2.15
libmng 1.0.10
jpeg 9.0
zlib 1.2.8
My make args
make TARGET=framebuffer PREFIX=/mnt/sdcard/netsurf
CC=arm-linux-gcc CXX=arm-linux-g++ LD=arm-linux-ld NM="arm-linux-nm
-B" AR=arm-linux-ar RANLIB=arm-linux-ranlib STRIP=arm-linux-strip
OBJCOPY=arm-linux-objcopy NSFB_WLD_AVAILABLE=no NSFB_SDL_AVAILABLE=yes
First I got this error
cc1: error: unrecognized option `-Wextra'
I removed `-Wextra' from
libnsfb makefile
libosprite makefile
Then I got this error
cc1: error: unrecognized option `-Wstrict-aliasing=2'
I removed `-Wstrict-aliasing=2' from
libosprite makefile
Then I got this error
cc1: error: unrecognized option `Wno-overlength-strings'
I removed `Wno-overlength-strings' from
libnsfb makefile
Then I get this error
src/surface/sdl.c:11:21: warning: SDL/SDL.h: No such file or directory
The file is there by all the other headers eg.
"/home/fred/netsurf-full-3.0-tt/prefix-framebuffer/include/SDL/SDL.h"
if I hardcode the path from #include <SDL/SDL.h> to #include
"/home/fred/netsurf-full-3.0-tt/prefix-framebuffer/include/SDL/SDL.h"
it compiles fine.
I launch it with these args
netsurf -f sdl -w 320 -h 240 -b 16
When it runs it no text displays. If I point it to a image
(file:///home/fred/image.png) it displays fine but does not render
html.

The osk also has no text on the buttons.
any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sammy

feature request : open in a new tab with <any-keyboard-key>+clic
by Yvan Masson
Hi everybody,
First thanks for this great software.
It might already have been discussed, but I think it could be really
nice to have a shortcut like Ctrl+clic to "open in a new window", but to
Thanks again for your work,
Yvan

Resolver failure on VRPC on the Mac
by David Pitt
Ever since NetSurf's development moved to its current development platform
NetSurf has failed to resolve any URL when run on VRPC on a Mac, it always
times out after 30s. NetSurf 2.9 is OK, as is 3.0 and later on VRPC on
Windows 7 and RPCEmu on the Mac.
When this was first reported on the mailing list the response was that none
of the developers had VRPC on a Mac.
We were reminded recently to ensure that bugs were put on the bug tracker
lest they be forgot, so I just did!
(BTW Mantis worked perfectly, I did know about the '#' thing though.)
I would be happy to try any diagnostics that might help pin this down.

Strange rendering of ROOL forum page in 1791
by Dave Higton
I'm seeing a strange effect when looking at the ROOL Forum page in
NS 1791 (and not in 1790). I've seen the page's footer rendered
in the window when it should have been below the bottom of the
window and therefore not visible, and then scroll upwards when
I moved the vertical slug bar down, with other parts of the main
content rendered below the footer.
I swapped back to 1790 and didn't see it, then went forwards to
1791 and saw it again.
The second time with 1791, it wasn't visible at first, but opening
the site again made it render incorrectly again.
Anyone else seen this?
Dave
