Nervous tick
by Richard Porter
When Netsurf is displaying the following page and others on the same
site the pointer starts flickering 2 or 3 times a second between a
pointing hand and an hour glass.
http://www.therailengineer.com/2012/04/26/bs11000-working-together-achiev...
This only happens when the top part of the page is displayed. If you
scroll down it stops; if you scroll back up so that most of the image
is shown it starts again. If you're working in another window over the
top it stops. If you bring NetSurf to the top it resumes. What's going
on?
Currently using r13534.

NetSurf on Virtual Acorn
by Alan & Sally
Hi All,
I have Virtual Acorn on my Mac G5 running OS 10.5.8. The RISC OS in VA is 4.39.
Netsurf 2.9 runs nicely on this set up but I have had no luck with any of the later
development versions. I have just downloaded 3.0 Dev #833 with the same result.
The problem is that all the recent versions don't connect to the internet. The
message I get is "Resolving timed out after 30000 milliseconds." The settings are
the same ones that 2.9 is using, so I am at a loss with what to do. Has any one got
a fix for this?
The development versions all run well on my Risc PC under OS 3.5. So the
problem seems to be specific to VA and the development versions on the Mac.
Regards, Alan

BBC News websites
by David H Wild
I see that we now have normal access to the BBC news websites. Whether this
is something done by the Netsurf team or someone at the BBC taking note of
complaints I am pleased to see it happen.

Iconv 0.12 released
by John-Mark Bell
Version 0.12 of the Iconv module is now available for download. This is
a recommended update for all users - new builds of NetSurf will require
it.
New in this version:
* Add proper transliteration behaviour when requested
using //TRANSLIT.
Fixed in this version:
* Correct handling of trailing valid shift sequences. Previously would
erroneously report EINVAL, instead of silently accepting them.
Changed in this version:
* Master alias mapping file now lives in ROOL repository.
About Iconv
===========
Iconv is a module providing character set conversion facilities for
third-party applications. It is currently used by a number of
applications, most notably NetSurf. UnixLib's iconv support also
requires this module.
Updating from earlier versions
==============================
If updating from earlier versions, please perform _both_ a !Boot and
!System merge with the contents of the Iconv distribution archive as
documented in the Installation section of the ReadMe file.
Where to get it
===============
Iconv may be downloaded from

Log-in problem
by Richard Porter
I log into my eBlah forum permanently using a cookie. Previously when
I visited the forum I would be logged in automatically, but for the
last couple of weeks or so I have had to log in every session. Not
even my username is remembered.
Could this have been caused by a change in NetSurf? The forum scripts
have not changed. The only other possibility is a security change by
the hosting company (eUKhost). Most of my hosting problems are caused
by changes to ModSecurity settings.

Toolbar Customisation
by Ken Ellis
I am trying to use Netsurf on a Raspberry Pi and I am having trouble understanding parts of the Netsurf User Guide. There, Under Toolbar Customisation, is this passage:
'To move the icons around , enable toolbar edit mode by clicking menu over the toolbar and choosing "Edit toolbar". This will open the toolbar editing panel.'
I don't understand what is meant by 'clicking menu over the toolbar'. All I can see above the toolbar is the usual menu list of File Edit View Navigate and Help. I have tried a right click on the toolbar, but nothing happens.
The other point I am having trouble with is when discussing Toolbar Icons the guide refers to 'Adjust Click' and 'Select Click'. I have not met these terms.

Clipboard not working #824
by John Rickman Iyonix
There appears to be a problem with the clipboard in 3.0 #824.
Within a NetSurf window ctrl-c and ctrl-v work as normal but anything
put on the clipboard from outside the NS window does not get inserted
into writable icons using ctrl-v.
The Clipboard works properly in 2.9

ctrl-arrow keys in Ro
by Jim Nagel
Something went wrong with Netsurf's implementation of the Ctrl-arrow
keys in Acornland quite some while ago.
The standard Acorn behaviour in almost all other apps is that Ctrl
supercharges the arrow keys to take you all the way in that direction.
In other words, Ctrl-up scrolls you all the way to the top of a
window, Ctrl-right all the way to the right, etc. (I presume this is
in the Style Guide.)
Try it. Shrink any Netsurf page (with its bottom-right gadget) to a
small size so that it needs scrolling.
In Netsurf #616, and in 2.9 --
Ctrl-up works as expected
Ctrl-down does nothing
Ctrl-left takes you all the way RIGHT
Ctrl-right takes you all the way LEFT
In 2.8, 2.7 -- Ctrl-down does nothing; other three work.
In 2.5 -- all Ctrl-arrow keys work as expected.
