Unknown SSL protocol
by John Williams (address)
Sometime after r8950 - 1st Aug 2009, accessing my French bank results in
this error at the password box appearing stage:
Sorry, NetSurf was unable to display this page
Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to
voscomptesenligne.labanquepostale.fr:443
- so something changed after that version.

NetSurf crashes as soon as it is run
by Richard Mellish
The Help file says
In case of problems, please check for a newer release at
http://www.netsurf-browser.org/ and, if problems persist,
email
the support mailing list at
netsurf-users(a)netsurf-browser.org.
I am doing that, rather than using the bug-tracking system, because I
tried the latter on a previous occasion and found it very hard to use.
I attach a log file.
NetSurf was working OK until a few days ago, when it took to crashing
when started. I am not aware of making any change to my system, which
is an Iyonix running RISC OS 5.11. (I am intending to install 5.16
soon but am deferring that until I have copied some applications and
data files to a new computer.)
At the time I thought the problem was with the particular website, but
I have now found that NetSurf crashes even when started by
double-clicking the application directory.
I have reinstalled the latest version. I have also moved
!Boot.Choices.WWW.NetSurf and allowed NetSurf to re-create that from
scratch.
None of that has made any difference.

by Rajesh Marathe
Hi,
I am new to NetSurf and am trying to compile and run the same. My goal would be to port this to ARM based IMX27 based system. I am getting the below error while I try to compile this on my host RHEL5 machine. The error is:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMPILE: css/css.c
css/css.c: In function ‘css_parse_property_list’:
css/css.c:1552: error: ‘LBRACE’ undeclared (first use in this function)
css/css.c:1552: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
css/css.c:1552: error: for each function it appears in.)
css/css.c:1571: error: ‘RBRACE’ undeclared (first use in this function)
make: *** [build-Linux-gtk/css_css.o] Error 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have installed all dependent libraries.
Please help,
regards,
Rajesh Marathe.

This error is produced because our mail server refused your mailing
because the headers contained a syntax error.

And here's the syntax error. There's a missing angle-bracket off my
email address, so the server thinks you're trying to email somebody
called Rob Kendrick with the email address "rjek(a)netsurf-browser.org,
Michael Drake <tlsa(a)netsurf-browser.org>", newline at all. An easy
mistake to make, but your mail client really should have noticed it.

NetSurf at Wakefield Show 2010
by Michael Drake
The NetSurf developers plan to release NetSurf 2.5 at the
Wakefield RISC OS Show this year.
http://www.wakefieldshow.org.uk/
The release is expected to have many bug fixes over the current
release version (NetSurf 2.1), in addition to major new
features, such as:
+ Rewritten and more capable CSS engine
+ Rewritten and more flexible cache design
+ Better memory usage
We also hope for speed improvements in parsing of HTML and CSS,
as well as faster CSS selection.
NetSurf 2.5 is likely to be the last release for RISC OS. It is
unlikely that RISC OS development builds will function for much
longer after this, either. Once NetSurf 2.5 has been released
we will be incorporating new developments, which are currently
being held back, into NetSurf's core web browser engine. These
will not be compatible with the existing stagnant RISC OS front
end code.
The source code for the RISC OS front end will continue to be
available in the normal place, however it won't compile without
the necessary attention to bring it into line with NetSurf's
core.

Here, using NetSurf r8378,
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=Osprey+Napoleonic&_sacat...
displays 57 items (page 1 of 1), together with 10 items from 'eBay
international sellers', ie there is only one page, containing 67 items.
Have you set your preferences to limit the number of items displayed on
a page?
If you hover the pointer over 'next', or 'page 2', is a url shown in the
NetSurf status bar, at the bottom of the window? If 'javascript:' is
shown, the link cannot work, because NetSurf doesn't support JavaScript.

crash and 34M logfile
by Jim Nagel
Netsurf (r9704) has just crashed on the RiscPC -- dunno why, the site
i was trying to visit looks innocuous enough when i view it on the
laptop.
it gave the usual message about "serious error and must exit; please
submit a bug report, attaching the browser log file" and then
hourglassed for *six minutes and 21 seconds*, the drive light showing
busy. available memory was 44M during this period.
the log file is huge: 34M.
do the developers really want me to submit all of this with a bug
report?
