align=center appears to be broken
by Mike Hobbs
I've just noticed that our own web page no longer centers.
The page is written by TechWriter and uses "ALIGN=CENTER" in
several places (e.g. on H1 and DIV elements). I'm not sure
which build first broke this but it was working in the 2.1
release and wasn't on r8933 and its still broken as of r9045.

Netsurf r9012 stealing all the memory
by Russell Hafter - Lists
I have not noticed this behaviour before, until upgrading to
r9012 (so that Googlr displays correctly again).
I often have www.xe.com permanently on screen to monitor
movements in the GBP/EUR exchange rate, to help me decide
when to buy another tranche of Euros.
With earlier versions I could happily leave this on all day
(the site updates automatically every 30s - I think).
However, I now find that after about five or six hours,
NetSurf has swallowed just about all the free RAM in the
machine, and I have to quit NetSurf to get it all back.
Doing this five mins ago, NetSurf released 43048kB - free
memory was down to 28kB
RO 4.02, Strongarm
Also running - Easiwriter, PIPedream, Masterfile, RiScript,
Pluto, Newshound, POPStar, Arc|Fax, Calc, Edit - the normal
apps I have running towards the end of the day.
Anyone else finding this?

URGENT: Developers needed
by Michael Drake
Hello,
The NetSurf Developers are looking for new developers to join the team.
Our current development plan is outlined loosely here:
http://wiki.netsurf-browser.org/Development_Plan
We'd welcome any development help but there are two specific areas in
which we need help.
The RISC OS front end
---------------------
The RISC OS front end was the original front end and in many ways it is
still the most complete. However, the RISC OS front end has not had any
maintainer for over two and a half years. This is now seriously impeding
development of NetSurf's multi-platform core, because the front ends need
to be updated to use core features, and prompting developers to consider
dropping RISC OS support.
Many of the features that were in the RISC OS front end are now being
moved to the core, so that there will be less RISC OS specific code, and
that code can be tested properly on platforms with better debug tools.
If you are interested in working on NetSurf's RISC OS front end, please
get in touch with the developers. We're keen to help anyone get to grips
with the code. Knowledge of C and some experience with the RISC OS WIMP
are required.
The autobuilder
---------------
The NetSurf autobuilder currently builds development builds of the RISC OS
front end every 15 minutes, if there has been a change to the code. It
then uploads the new builds to the web site. It is all done by a Perl
script.
The autobuilder could be made a lot more useful for developers. It could
run the test suites for all components, such as Hubbub and update a page
that shows whether a build has failed or an update has caused a test to be
failed. It could also build NetSurf for various platforms. This would let
developers see if their changes have broken something. For example a Linux
developer may make a change which stops the Amiga version from compiling.
There are some more specific requirements for the autobuilder here:
http://wiki.netsurf-browser.org/Autobuilder_requirements
If you're interested and have some knowledge of scripting languages
(specifically Perl), please get in touch.
If you would like to help in either of these areas, please get in touch
to discuss things with us. The NetSurf IRC channel is best, or use the
netsurf-dev developer mailing list. Details on:
http://www.netsurf-browser.org/contact/
Thanks,
The NetSurf Developers

Form oddity
by Richard Torrens (lists)
I have just written a form to send emails to a mailing list I have.
This allworks fine, but the resultant incoming email has 0A 0D 0A where I
had pressed Return twice.
Seems to be a spare 0D in there. Seems to have been put in by NetSurf!

Unknown SSL protocol
by John Williams (address)
Sometime after r8950 - 1st Aug 2009, accessing my French bank results in
this error at the password box appearing stage:
Sorry, NetSurf was unable to display this page
Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to
voscomptesenligne.labanquepostale.fr:443
- so something changed after that version.

Google formatting; thanks.
by Dr Peter Young
>From the entry for r9012 on the Test Builds page: "Add default
line-height for form elements. Fixes squashed Google homepage." Much
better, and many thanks.
With best wishes,
Peter.
