losing an unreadable colour scheme
by Jim Nagel
the other day i tried to read a webpage that had blue print on a dark
blue background. i couldn't make out the text.
now, gold ol' Fresco had an option (Display > Document colours) that
could be deselected in a case like this. Shift-F5 for short.
could i suggest this for Netsurf, please?

Wooo - getting there!
by Paul Vigay
I'm pleased to say that the severe text overwriting issue with a friend of
mine's website is now fixed, and you can view http://www.colinandrews.net/
with the latest versions of NetSurf. :-)
However, there's one little piece of text towards the bottom of
http://www.colinandrews.net/CheesefootHead-PatDelgado.html which is still
overwriting (just above the map of Southern UK).

Java=Sun 'Write once, run anywhere' operating environment
Javascript=Netscape (now EMCAScript) 'write once, modify for every browser
under the sun' scripting language.
The confusion this similar naming (they have nothing else in common) has
caused, has been, and still is endless.

I do believe you are thinking of Java which Acorn licenced from Sun.
These days some, if not all, is open source.
See https://mobileandembedded.dev.java.net/downloads.html
This is mobile version of Java which might be suitable, but will require
developer time (a very scarce resource) to configure etc.

odd characters in bug report
by Tony Moore
Having just submitted a bug report, I see that its title is now
[ 2553069 ] r6324?crashes?on?loading
where ? represents ff/da
I cut and pasted the title from StrongED, where all spaces are ascii 32.
Would anyone know where the odd characters came from?

icon for URL filetype
by Jim Nagel
minor thing: i don't see a file_b28 icon among the various
!Netsurf.!Sprites files. when you save a URL (filetype &b28) from
Netsurf it appears with a questionmark icon.
it seems the system gets a proper icon only when it picks it up by
seeing one of the other browsers. i opened my folder containing
Fresco, Browse and Phoenix, and now a URL icon shows in directory
windows.
but i'm puzzled. though i now see this icon in use, i cannot find it
in the !Sprites22 (etc) files within any of these browsers.
screenshot at www.archivemag.co.uk/JN/screen.png (14K) shows the
file_b28 icons provided by Fresco and Browse, and then the "red arrow
pointing at blue planet" one that has somehow come to life. anybody
know whose it is?
anyway, i suggest that Netsurf's !Sprites collection needs one.

CSS changed?
by Brian Jordan
A recent change to Netsurf has caused one of my sites to stop rendering
as I intended. Very recently [1] my site at www.clubmans.org.uk started
having its content jumping out of the containing <div> in a very
inelegant fashion. It looks as if the left margin is spacing the content
away from the floated left menu buttons whereas previously it was spaced
from the left side of the containing <div>.
I am happy to concede that I am a CSS newcomer and that my code may well
be at fault, nontheless it worked until recently and continues to work on
most other browsers in XP, Mac and Ubuntu.
Can anyone using a not fully up to date Netsurf 2 have a look and help me
narrow the change down so that I can report this properly?
Brian
[1] This has happened within the last month but I can't say exactly when
as I don't have previous builds available to me, I am also aware that the
photo galleries don't work in NetSurf due to my use of some CSS which
hasn't been implemented yet inNetsurf and I am not concerned about this
but it would be nice to see the home page and other simple pages working
even though I am probably the only person to view this site in NetSurf.
