Web shop problem
by David J. Ruck
We are evaluating different web shop software, most work ok, but the
latest fails with NetSurf. On attempting to add the demo product to
the cart, it just returns to the shop home page.
http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/khxc/
It passes the W3C validator to XHTML 1.0, and as far as I can make out
only uses javascript for button roll overs, so should work. Can anyone
suggest why it doesn't and its something likely to be fixed in
NetSurf.
Cheers
---Dave

Rendering problem at linux.die.net
by bkauler@goosee.com
I've setup NetSurf in the upcoming Puppy Linux v3.00 as the
internal HTML viewer. I've also got it setup as a viewer for
online man pages, however the url that I would like to use:
http://linux.die.net/man/sysctl
...where 'sysctl' is an example man page, doesn't render
quite right.
It's almost correct, except an incorrect red rectangle is
displayed overlapping the text, making the text unreadable.
The spurious rectangle seems to be a duplication of the
one on the left of the page.

Serious bug in NetSurf2?
by Paul Vigay
I've just discovered what I believe to be a serious bug in NetSurf2 (not
tried with NS1 yet) and I'm just off to report it in the bug tracker.
However, NetSurf is not correctly encoding characters in web forms.
Things like %91 and %92 characters are simply encoded as question marks,
which is corrupting any forms submitted via NetSurf.
I've just knocked up a quick test script at
http://www.truefacts.co.uk/cgi-bin/test which allows you to cut and paste
characters into a form and see what they're encoded as. NetSurf is not
working correctly.
As an example, try pasting
Israelis blew apart Syrian nuclear cache
into the form. The correct output should be
Israelis %91blew apart Syrian nuclear cache%91
but NetSurf is outputting
Israelis %3Fblew apart Syrian nuclear cache%3F

URL length limit
by Richard Porter
It appears that NetSurf truncates a link to 255 characters. I've just
received an invoice notification that contains two PayPal links which
well exceed 511 characters.
I'm sure that links on web pages can be longer, but why is this
limitation imposed on entered URLs including those generated by a mail
client? Is it just arbitrary or is it an RFC?

Suggestion about Netsurf website
by Paul Vigay
I've got a minor suggestion for the NetSurf website....
Would it be possible to put a link to the bug tracker on the development
builds page at http://www.netsurf-browser.org/builds/ ?
I can never seem to find the bug tracker without searching through loads of
pages and links. It would be quite handy to have a quick link to it.

Default domain on VRPC
by Mike Hobbs
NetSurf is working well on VirtualRPC-SA except for one
annoying aspect. DNS lookups fail unless the full server URL
is used. So http://wiki/ says not found whilst http://wiki.ant.co.uk/
is fine.
Now, VRPC of course uses the WindowsXP network stack and that has
ant.co.uk defined as a default domain and other RISC OS browsers
such as Fresco and Oregano both work OK in the same VRPC environment.
So what is NetSurf missing? Presumably its getting the first
DNS lookup failure and then giving up instead of trying to add the
default domain? Bug, or feature request? Ta.

Font checking when loading netsurf
by Ian
Hi
I have netsurf running on all three Iyonices in as far as I can tell
identical configurations (all Netsurf 1.1, OS 5.13). When loaded for
the first time after a machine shutdown, two load without scanning
fonts whilst the third scans all the fonts on the machine before
loading.
Can I switch the font scannnig off?
Sorry if this has been asked before May this year, I only have access
to the archives since then

EUreferendum
by AW
What stops EUreferendum.blogspot.com from formatting correctly? It
should have the links bar down the LHS AIUI. It's one of the main UK
blogs and it would be good to post a picture of RISC OS showing it
properly - if possible.
