What is the bug that causes Netsurf to crash when an image in the
upper frame is clicked upon in images.google.co.uk?

inlcude cairo in makefile in SVN HEAD

Hello,
I think pkg-config should check for cairo. The following patch worked for
building on DeLi Linux

It should also be checked if gtk is >= 2.8 (I built it first with gtk 2.6.x, which didn't work)

Running out of memory
by Henry Jensen
Hello,
I built Netsurf 1.1 on DeLi Linux, a uClibc based GNU/Linux distribution.
Whenever I press a button in a form, e. g. Google Search, I get the message
"Netsurf is running out of memory. Please free some memory and try again".
Of course, there is enough memory available.
Netsurf is built with the following tools and libs:
gcc 3.3.6
lcms-1.17-i386-1
lemon-3.4.1-i386-8
libglade-2.4.2-i386-1
libmng-1.0.10-i386-1
gtk2-2.6.10-i386-4
re2c-0.9.12-i386-1
atk-1.9.1-i386-1
pango-1.8.2-i386-2
uClibc 0.9.28
Linux Kernel 2.4.34.4

[netsurf] NetSurf for CUPS web interface
by bkauler@goosee.com
Hi, I've just joined the list. I'm the lead developer for the
Puppy Linux project.
I'm testing NetSurf as the internal HTML viewer in Puppy, for
viewing the local HTML help files (all our help is HTML, we
don't have man pages). Works well.
What would really clinch it though is if I could also use
NetSurf for the CUPS printing web interface. It is started by:
netsurf http://localhost:631/
And it comes up okay, but when I choose to add a printer, a
drop-down list does not display -- only the first entry in the
list displays.
NetSurf and Puppy Linux would be a very good match, as Puppy is
all about small size -- the live-CD is only 94MB. See more at:
http://www.puppylinux.com We rate about 17 at distrowatch.
If NetSurf could work with CUPS, that would really cement it as
the best choice for Puppy. I was wondering if the developers could
consider that as a priority to support for the next release.
Regards,
Barry Kauler

BBC "New Look" website (a bit long, sorry).

I'm posting this on c.s.a.advocacy with a copy to the NetSurf list, as
the topic was originally raised there; it's well off-topic there now,
so I hope this copy will be excused as the thread has now been
diverted to the correct place, and may be possibly of interest to
NetSurf users.
I tried subscribing to this forum using RISC OS Firefox, and was
initially doing well, until Firefox did one of its "evaporating"
tricks when I tried to set a username and password. I then got,
unexpectedly, a mail from the person behind the website, saying "Thank
you for joining the Tomorrow's News Research Forum." and so on.
I then got a bit cross, and fired off a reply saying:
Thanks for this; I'm surprised that my application got through, as it
managed to crash my non-standard browser before I could enter a user
name and password.
As I obviously won't be able to contribute, and as my main interest is
in ensuring that non-standard browsers would work with your survey, I
think you had better unsubscribe me.
The reply to this was:
Which browser are you trying to use? Our community platform is
compatible with most browsers - please let me know.
My reply was (and I was still cross!):
Thanks for this, but I'm afraid you will probably promptly lose
interest when I tell you that I use RISC OS, and that none of the
browsers that we eccentrics have available will cope with your site.
It's a pity that a British, albeit very minority, system lacks so much
official support in this country.
His reply was (and how often have we heard and seen things like
this!):
Wow, I've not seen this OS since I was at school over a decade ago! To
be honest, I didn't know it was still going. I've looked and I see
that Firefox has been ported to RISC - do you use this and do you have
any success with it?
To cut the rest of the story mercifully short, I put him right about
RISC OS. His reply was, in essence, sympathetic but negative, saying:
... please be advised that while I'm sympathetic to your situation,
there's little we'll be able to do in this instance to optimise our
community for RISC OS. If it's of any comfort, the html used is valid
and compliant by modern standards, so with that in mind there's little
more we can do.
I do fully appreciate what it's like to be in a minority of OS users.
I started using a Mac in the late 80's, and while the machines are
fashionable now they certainly weren't then.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and it's something we'll
have to be mindful of in the future.
This seems to me to be an opportunity to make our voice felt. Perhaps
if a few others would like to attempt to subscribe, and then reply to
mailings along the same sort of lines ...? :-)
With best wishes,
Peter.

It also works with Oregano2.

DigitalRenderer riscpkg package
by alan buckley
I'm attempting to package some software for the
RISC OS Packaging project that uses the DigitalRender
module.
As you already have this in a package I was wondering
if I could get it added to the main package list so it
was available for my use as well.
If necessary I would be willing to create the package
for the riscpkg list if it needs more work to meet
with it's guidelines.
Thanks,
Alan

Not as far as I know. In fact I usually log-out, after visiting the
website. What happens if you click on my link, above? If it works, you
could easily change to point to other groups.

[Netsurf-develop] YahooGroups
by John Harrison
YahooGroups seems to have changed its sign-in mechanism, so that it no
longer works with NetSurf. I have been using v1.0, but I downloaded the
latest test build, and that behaves the same. Has anyone else noticed
this?

Invalid UTF chars stop text display
by David J. Ruck
The GPS news letter I received contains broken HTML in that it
features pound sign characters (&A3) in the UTF8 encoding.
I expect these not be rendered, but the precesence of these
characters stops further display of the text, which I think
should be considered a bug.
I've distilled the html down to the minimum to reproduce it. Only
the first line is shown, the line containing the characters and the
last line are not displayed.
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
</head><body>
The other new and exciting feature is the inclusion of a tracklog.
<br><br>
The Nuvi 700 range will be available in October and will be priced
from £280 to £450.

Ever since the announcement of the new range of TomTom GOs there has
been speculation about a top of the range model.
