Bug 1714903
by John Williams
This bug prevents me (and, I'm sure, many others) from using versions of
NetSurf later than the version of 20th April.
This is because I /need/ to be able to view local copies of my site.
This means that I, and I assume others with similar needs, am unable to
continue with testing of newer versions until this bug is fixed.
May I make a plea for this bug to be assigned a high(er) priority?

[Netsurf-develop] Bug no. 1720623
by Dr Peter Young
Bug no. 1720623.
This is the one where I get a complete lockup of the machine (RO 5.13,
currently NS Development (18 Jun 2007 19.45) ) when using
www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/pib-home
In contrast to druck, amongst others, who can use this site without
problem, this is 100% repeatable in my experience, and needs resort to
resetting and then going to Oregano2, which I don't like as much as
NetSurf.
I've just tried this having quit all other apps, and still get the
lockup which resists all else other than the reset button. On this
occasion it locked up on the login page.
Can anyone suggest where I should look in order to find why I have the
problem and druck doesn't? Modules, perhaps? Any guidance would be
appreciated. Because of the lockup the logfile doesn't get written to,
so that can't help.
With best wishes,
Peter.

Re: New lists problem
by Gordon F McLaren
Thanks for the info John: setting the choices to rx Plain Text sorted
the listing problem.
There;s still no /Date Sent/ though so it still gets dated 07 Feb 2016
when I download it ;-(
Sorting it as date rx is ok though!

[Netsurf-develop] netsurf 1.0 hangs my iyonix
by Jacques Haubrich
Hello developers,
Yesterday I've installed the new Netsurf 1.0 on my Iyonix with RISCOS 5.11
Doudble-click on the netsurf icon results in a small window that my
fonts are
being scanned, which is indeed happening until Corpus.Bold. Then,
wtih Corpus.Bold mentioned in that little window, the computer freezes
and only a full reset makes a complete restart.
Somebody suggested me to run Fixfonts within Netsurf, which I've done
without
any problems, but running Netsurf afterwards gives the old naste resuly
again.
No idea if this is important, but within !Boot.resources.!Fonts are some
48 fonts,
including (slightly amended) copies of the ROM-fonts (I added euro signs
to most of those fonts using FontEd).
Never had any problem with my fonts using other software...
Did I do something wrong and/or is there a way to fix the problem?
Thanks,
Jacques Haubrich

[Netsurf-develop] Extra programs with Netsurf
by David H Wild
Thank you for including the extra programs for downloading with Netsurf
itself.
One further improvement would be to include a text file with the date on
which these extra programs were updated. I don't suppose that this will be
anywhere near as often as the main program and such a file would let me
know if I needed to update any of the programs on my machine.

[Netsurf-develop] Serious problem with the Guardian website
by David H Wild
I was without my computer, because of a disc failure, from the beginning of
June to last Tuesday. Versions of Netsurf from before the failure had
problems with the site www.guardian.co.uk meaning the the text was often
superimposed on pictures and other text. The versions downloaded this week
download the text of the site but not the images and the program just stops
at that point. I can get rid of the page, but the program is still working
in the background and the only way out is to use Alt-break.

Memory usage
by Richard Porter
Netsurf can run out of memory when displaying a page with a lot of
large pictures on it, for example:
http://couz.exblog.jp/
It appears to load all the objects but isn't displaying some pictures
at the bottom of the page. Another app (possibly POPstar) is failing
once a minute because of insufficient memory. There are seven smallish
dynamic areas (1876K) attributed to Netsurf and one very large one.
What particularly concerns me is that after closing the window the
very large dynamic area of about 80MB remains. What's this doing? The
memory cache limit is set to 2MB. On loading Netsurf the dynamic area
is only 1728K. It looks like some memory is not being released.
I'm using the 16 June build on RO 4.39/Adjust 1i2.

Like others using different mail readers I have a similar problem with
Ant/Marcel (Yes, I know it's old but I like it!).
Netsurf list mail is now received in a separate directory that has to be
saved out, then opened, and since the individual mail is in Marcel
format it then has to be shift clicked to open it in an editor for
reading! Quite tiresome ;-(
Also the NS list mail directories are apparently not dated and arrive
as 07 Feb 2106! Note the On ?, (non-date) on the first line above!
Ok, so that's apparently quite a few of us with a problem. Can anything
be done to get back to some normality?
Regards,
Gordon McLaren

Since using the new list I now get the requested daily digest with
each mailing/message as a separate mail attachment. This is a a pain
the *****! is there some setting that I failed to tick?
Or am I going to have to revert back to seeing each message?
Using Mpro v3.29

Can something be done to automatically preface the subject line in
emails from this mailing list with, e.g., [Netsurf-users] or
[Netsurf-develop] ... as under the old mailing list. Currently, the
emails show up under the names of individuals many of whose whose names
are not in my address list ... and, therefore, often get spammed out.
... or was there a setting I missed when I subscribed to the new mailing
list?
