I suggest that you download a new test build because this was implemented
a couple of days ago.
You'll notice, however, that the selection code currently stops working
properly in a browser window when you use a textarea within that
window. So, if you're copying from the same web page, you may want to
open two copies for now.
You should be able to Ctrl-drag a text selection from one browser window
into a textarea in another, or go via the global clipboard (Ctrl-C,
then Ctrl-V).
Also implemented yesterday was launching URLs by dragging text into
the URL icon of the toolbar, as you requested a while ago.

[Netsurf-develop] Cannot update NetSurf with RiscPkg
by Tim Powys-Lybbe
After the encouragement to use RiscPkg I duly downloaded it and used it
to install a copy of NetSurf. This all worked OK.
I have now noted some enthusiasm for the latest builds and so tried to
update my copy of NetSurf by using RiscPkg. I followed the
instructions (selected NetSurf, clicked on Upgrade then Commit) but the
version date remains at 21 Mar 2005. RiscPkg is at 25 Feb 2005.
Can anyone advise how to get a more recent update by using RiscPkg?

[Netsurf-develop] PNG and text problem
by Chris Terran
Great work by all of you developers -- thanks :-)
Couple of points about this site:
http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/
1. The 'news' stories' headlines, subheads and first lines seem to
have a pixel or two shaved off the tops of the characters.
2. The banner 'PNG' isn't displayed -- perhaps not surprising, as
despite the file extension it's actually a GIF ;-) ... displays
fine when dragged to a NS window, though. As this site is part of a
game, it's possible this is being done deliberately, but it does
display in everything else I've tried. (Other graphics also don't
appear, but that's a JS issue.)
Best, Chris

James, in his email, and myself, in the cvs comments, neglected to
mention global clipboard support (just copying from NetSurf to other
apps presently). When there's a text selection, Ctrl-C copies it to
the global clipboard.
You can also use Ctrl-A to select all the text and Ctrl-Z or Escape
to clear the current selection.
Pasting from the global clipboard into textareas is being worked on.

[Netsurf-develop] iconv
by Dr Peter Killworth
My three browsers here (including Netscape 7) are all unable to resolve
even the name moose.mine.nu today (yesterday they could find it but it
didn't respond), let alone port 6888.
Can someone send me the latest iconv, please?
I might note that if a particular module is required by netsurf, it might
make more sense in future to ensure that it's available in a location
that everyone can get at, even if this means making a copy somewhere.

[Netsurf-develop] Fonts to use with Netsurf?
by Samuel Kock
Hi all
I want to congratulate the developers on the work they are doing with
Netsurf, keep up the good work!
Anyways, which Fonts are everyone using with Netsurf? Especially the Cursive
and Fantasy choices? Because on a page like www.cnn.com I still get those
four letter hex codes where bullet points or somesuch are supposed to be.
Can anyone shed light on this? Also on the Font choices window there is a
default drop down list that does not work yet, this will be active sometime
I presume?
And as a last thing: Can you maybe make it that when it is possible to
select text that the pointer changes to the caret?
Keep up the good work!

[Netsurf-develop] moose.mine.nu accessibility
by Gavin Wraith
Thanks to all who sent me a copy of iconv_latest.zip.
Meanwhile I am really puzzled why I cannot access
http://moose.mine.nu:6888/iconv_latest.zip
I remember the same happening with iconv 0.2.
I have tried using NetSurf, and Oregano2 and spoofing
with different User-agent names, and wget, all to no
avail.
Could it be my ISP (Plusnet) blocking it? It seems unlikely.
Am I right in thinking that the :6888 field in the URL is simply
requesting the http packet to be received by moose.mine.nu
on port 6888 and has nothing to do with my router at all?
I gave my router firewall an explicit port filter permitting
outgoing UDP and TCP packets on port 6888 (muse) but that would
then be irrelevant.
If anybody has any suggestions to solve this mystery I would
be grateful for their advice.

[Netsurf-develop] Gunjee problem revisited
by David H Wild
Last time I reported on this site, (www.gunjee.com) it was working, but,
with many of the latest versions, as soon as the initial screen appears
there is a long period of disk activity and NetSurf disappears off the icon
bar without updating the history files.
Ths site itself is of no importance, but there does seem to be something
wrong.

[Netsurf-develop] Iconv related changes
by John-Mark Bell
Hi all,
I've just checked in a change to the NetSurf Run file which means that
Iconv is now a _required_ dependency (it was previously optional). This
also means that you must have the !Unicode resource installed upon your
system.
Additionally, the version of Iconv now required by NetSurf is 0.04, which
means that _everybody_ who has not downloaded and installed Iconv since
April 12th will need to upgrade.
This change is the result of an increased use of Iconv within NetSurf (and
which should fix the issue which has appeared in recent builds of
submitting forms resulting in a "NetSurf is running out of memory..."
error)
Note that the Run file change mentioned above will not propogate to
downloadable builds until someone else makes a real code change. I don't
envisage that happening today (although Adrian may yet surprise me).
Therefore, I consider that you'll all have plenty of advance warning so
any issue reports in the near future along the lines of "where can I get
Iconv/!Unicode from?" are liable to result in the reporter being taken out
and shot.
Both Iconv and !Unicode can be found in the Iconv distribution here:
