[Netsurf-develop] Main window redraw problem
by Brian Jordan
Test build (26 Apr 2004 14:00)
I first found this problem on a site where clicking on a thumbnail loaded
a full size picture into the browser window. It can be replicated thusly:
1.Open the Netsurf browser to a valid page (the default intro file is
fine).
2. Drag a picture file (tested here with JPEG and GIF) into the window,
if possible have the filer window from which the picture was dragged
partly obscuring the browser window.
Here the picture overwrites the open page rather than replacing it and
the image of the filer window is also trapped in the browser window.

[Netsurf-develop] PNG support

Not sure how stable the PNG support in NetSurf is supposed to be, but the
few test files I tried at <http://www.schaik.com/pngsuite/pngsuite.html>
result in crashes like :

[Netsurf-develop] GetNetSurf
by James Robinson
Just knocked up a quick obey file to automatically download the latest
build of NetSurf and extract it, backing up the previous installation.
I decided to tidy it up a bit and release it, as someone else may find it
useful by only requiring a double click to download that days build. Its
not properly tested but seems to work ok with me.
Download from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tygwyn/riscos/GetNetSurf and set
its type to TaskObey (&FD7).
If your copy of NetSurf isn't in ADFS::4.$.Internet then you will need to
change the UserInet$Dir variable at the start of the file.

[Netsurf-develop] save-icon: a bug and a suggestion
by tony moore
bug:
clicking on the save-icon opens the save dialogue box as expected
but, if you now change your mind, clicking on 'cancel' does not
close the dbox
suggestion:
clicking select on the save-icon, with the various combinations of
shift and control, should mimic the actions of the f3 key with
the same shift and control keys

[Netsurf-develop] placing page next to background
by familie Mertens
I have seen several sites where the page with the interesting part is
placed to the right of the window, sometimes even that far to the right that
it is not possible to view it completely. example:
http://www.skalar.com/
this was with Test Build (25 Apr 2004 11;45)

[Netsurf-develop] odd layout errors noticed
by Stuart Halliday
Using: Test Build (25 Apr 2004 11:45)
http://www.dpreview.com/
is missing the top advert banner for some reason.
The colour for the headlines and dates of each news article are the wrong
colour making it difficult to read dark blue on a dark grey background.
The graphics making up the left menu are also mostly missing.
http://acorn.cybervillage.co.uk/
Each news article has a date in the yellow panel which is separated away
from the hyperlink by a space. But in Netsurf it isn't doing this so the
date is banging up against the hyperlink.
code example:
<tr><td width=65 align="right" valign="top">7th Apr </td><td><a
href="http://www.microdigital.co.uk/newsdesk/april04/wednday07.
htm">MicroDigital gives a progress report on the current state of their
Omega Computer.</a>
</td></tr>
On: http://acorn.cybervillage.co.uk/pcresources.stm
There is a small table of links in the top of the yellow panel which is
jammed up together to the left instead of spaced out.
code:
<table align=center border=0 cellpadding=9>
<tr>
<td><A HREF="#riscpc" target="_top">RiscPC</A></td><td><A HREF="#tweakit"
target="_top">Tweak</A></td><td><A HREF="#disk"
target="_top">Disk</A></td><td><A HREF="#file" target="_top">File</A><td><A
HREF="#video" target="_top">Video</A></td><td><A HREF="#internet"
target="_top">Internet</A></td><td><A HREF="#sites"
target="_top">Sites</A></td><td><A HREF="#buying"
target="_top">Buying</A></td>
</tr>
</table>
Also this site uses a number of name tags to jump to various sections on
the page and none of these work. I guess name and # isn't working yet?
The other day I looked at my favourite photograher web site:
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/
and viewed it in 32,000 colour mode and was truely taken aback at how
beautiful the layout and its pictures looked compared with other web
browsers. Grand stuff lads.

Re: [Netsurf-develop] Site that doesn't work with any browser I own
by Dave Symes
This is a rather strange one.
www.jasc.com (Home of PaintShop Pro) is a site I visit quite frequently
using other browsers, so I wondered how NetSurf would handle it.
It didn't.
The message pasted below appeared in the NS window.
"We're sorry, there's been an error while trying to load this page. You
should be able to access this page momentarily.
If you continue to experience trouble or need immediate assistance, please
contact http://www.jasc.com/support/customercare."
Out of interest I clicked the customer care link, after a short pause,
this produced a similar message.
Cheers
Dave S
PS: I still have the stderr from that session.
