[Netsurf-develop] NetSurf Metal Theme
by Richard Spencer
I've uploaded a simple NetSurf theme (just a Spritefile) at
http://www.richardspencer.freeuk.com/ns_metal.zip
To install, drag the !NetSurf dir over the top of your application,
select Choices from the iconbar>Themes>Metal, quit and reload.
Based on MIT's Galeon project's Remembrance theme, with an original
throbber I'm getting to like :-)
Please let me know likes or dislikes. The whole thing is very beta and
will be adapted as Netsurf grows/changes.

[Netsurf-develop] JavaScript
by Dave Higton
I'm seriously thinking about offering to develop JavaScript support for
NetSurf.
Bearing in mind what JMB said to us at the SAUG a few days ago, I assume
that you want a new development rather than a port of the Mozilla one.
I spent a very interesting and mostly enjoyable couple of years a while
ago writing a BASIC subset compiler, so I have some comprehension of the
scale of the work and some of the issues involved.
I've been wondering about the interface between the main part and the
JS part. I imagine being passed a pointer to a script tag, and passing
back such things as HTML, requests for fetches, etc, being called
repeatedly until I report that I've finished and pass back a pointer
to the text after the closing tag. I need to know the context (header
or body) and a unique ID for the page, and I need to be called when the
page is closed. Does that make sense?

[Netsurf-develop] IPCop problem gone away
by Mike Gilbert
Hi,
As it says in the subject, the problem with connecting NetSurf through
IPCop has gone. This is probably due to a change in v1.4.0, which I've
just installed to replace the 1.3 installation I had before.
A nice'n'easy installation, with the only complication being my not
RTFM on my ADSL modem before I did it. Leaving that aside, it was back
up in an hour. Strongly recommended.
I can't get to the management pages, though. The error is
"SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK"
IE also muttered about this, but I can tell it to ignore things like
that on my local network.
Cheers

[Netsurf-develop] Test Build 25 Oct 2004 22:45
by Grahame
Hi,
Having downloaded the latest version of NetSurf I have discovered that
it no longer loads Draw files nor does it print (simply outputs a blank
sheet). The previous version that I have which does work ok is Test
Build 25 Sept 2004 00:00.
I have not downloaded inbetween versions as I have been on holiday.
Can someone please investigate.
Regards,
Grahame

[Netsurf-develop] Netsurf
by Bruce Coleman
I read about your efforts to create a browser in Archive
so I thought I'd give it a try
At first it wouldn't run without a !System merge
This I carried out as instructed
When I tried it again I got the following error message
File 'System:Modules.URI' not found
Can you tell me where I can find this file and
what to do with it when I've got it.
Cheers

[Netsurf-develop] Proxy authentication
by Mike Gilbert
Hello,
Could proxy authentication move from a configuration option to a pop up
window? This isn't related to my own problem (which I still have to do a
report thing on), but to a site I was at yesterday. They're running
Navaho as a filter to stop unsecure access by kids to the 'net. Each
user needs to log on to Navaho to authenticate. Other browsers pop up a
login window when necessary, rather than requiring people to navigate
to a specific config page. The same site has a load of NCs, which might
benefit from the same functionality.
I suppose the issue is serial users rather than people having their own
machine, and is specific to education.
Cheers
Mike

[Netsurf-develop] Developers: CVS server down
by James Bursa
The NetSurf CVS server is currently inaccessible due to a new over-
enthusiastic firewall installed at my host. This will be fixed soon. Please
sit on your changes meanwhile :)

[Netsurf-develop] The Register.co.uk
by David H Wild
With versions of Netsurf later than the middle of October I find that this
site, which makes heavy use of CSS, gives me white text on a white
background.
I know that something has been fetched, as moving the cursor across the
white page produces links - but if I follow these I get further white
pages. A September version of Netsurf does things correctly. This is the
only site that I have found that gives this problem.
