I have updoaded version 2.56 of DigitalCD on my homepage at
This version fixes:
- internal API changes caused crashes for CDs containing data tracks.
- long delays before playing MPEG files (AudioMPEG, see yesterday's release).
- Internet, configuration of a minimal amound of decoded sound to accumulate
before starting to replay.
Any chance the URL field could be made to update itself asap to the URL
that I click on when selecting a hyperlink?
It doesn't appear to change until after the new web page is displayed.
Also could we get a different mouse pointer displayed when hovering over a
BTW, I see 'Netsurf 26 - built 26th Sept' is still clipping the right edge
off the dates shown on the navigation panel on the left at
See 'Current News' section, top left.
But it looks very nice otherwise. :-))

Please test the latest build. Improvements over the last two weeks:
+ sprite and drawfile support (John M Bell)
+ more table layout fixes
+ plugin improvements (John M Bell)
+ about: page (John M Bell)
+ memory corruption bug fixes
+ forms changed to use CSS (in progress)
+ textarea editing (in progress)
+ Select ImageFileConvert used to render PNGs with alpha transparency, if
Thanks for all the bug reports! There are still redraw problems when moving
between pages, but the reported crashes should be fixed.
if you try http://www.nausicaa.net/
with Netsurf (version of 12 September) it quits silently.
I found that the stderr file contains the line:
"render/layout.c", line 1107: calculate_table_widths:
Assertion failed: col[i].min <= col[i].max
other than that I think that their must still be some issues with tables
as can be seen with http://www.winamp.com/.
NetSurf is starting to look good now :) But... I have found two issues that
are rather irritating:
1) I made a window full screen (1024x768) and went to http://www.riscos.com/
I then went to http://mysober.co.uk/ and it displayed the page, but also
displayed the bottom of http://www.riscos.com/ below. I can provide a screen
shot if necessery, but I think the error is repeatable.
2) If someone has put the wrong content type header on an image such as
text/plain then it fills the page with a load of gibberish where the image
should be. Should it not either display a broken image or guess the image
example is http://riscos.datawave.nl/
Please test the latest build. Recent improvements:
+ alt text is displayed for images while they are loading
+ the page is reformatted when a window is resized
+ various bugs fixed
+ password fields in forms (John M Bell)
There are some new problems with redrawing and table column widths which I
plan to look at soon.
Developers: there is documentation generated from comments using Doxygen at
http://netsurf.strcprstskrzkrk.co.uk/codedocs/. See content.c / content.h for
how to format comments to make them appear. This is regenerated at the same
time as automatic builds.
The location of NetSurf's Choices file has been moved in the latest build.
Therefore, if you have used NetSurf previously, you will have a spurious
Choices file in <Choices$Write>.NetSurf (This is usually
!Boot.Choices.NetSurf). Feel free to delete the <Choices$Write>.Netsurf
directory as it is no longer used. The new location of the Choices file
will be in <Choices$Write>.WWW.NetSurf. You will need to re-configure
NetSurf if you are not using the default choices (alternatively just copy
the old Choices file to the new location as the format hasn't changed).
Sorry for any inconvenience, but it was an oversight made a while ago ;)
