[Netsurf-develop] Title of webpage and Unicode
by Stefaan Claes
Hello,
Why is the title of a webpage converted to Unicode? (which RISC OS can't
handle ATM). Or will it be possible (in the near future) to use Unicode in
the desktop? (i.e. for menus, window title bars, etc...) That would be
nice. ;-)
E.g. The title of <http://www.lycos.ru/> is:
<title>Lycos - Âàø ëè÷íûé èíòåðíåò-ãèä</title>
But in the titlebar there is:
Lycos - Ãà ø ëè÷Ãûé èÃòåðÃåò-ãèä
cheers,
Stefaan

[Netsurf-develop] Alt text for images
by James Bursa
Today's build shows alt text instead of grey rectangles for images. This is
just experimental at the moment. I've also been working on a new CSS parser
but this isn't integrated yet.

[Netsurf-develop] Large jpeg
by Stefaan Claes
Hello,
If you need a *really* large jpeg for testing: I have uploaded such a
(ridiculous) large jpeg to my website (it's 5 Mbytes big):
<http://www.archimedes.be/camera/gif/selected.jpg>
Some sites use this URL, but there wasn't such a jpeg on my website.
That's why I put this jpeg there. Of course it will slow down the
loading of their webpage, but I don't care. <eg>
BTW: Fresco and Oregano (both 1 and 2) seem to cope with this large
jpeg, but they couldn't handle an even larger jpeg (18 Mbytes): i.e.
the jpeg was not displayed, but they didn't crash.

[Netsurf-develop] Page editing
by Jeffrey Lee
Hi,
I've thought up an idea which you might want to include in netsurf - the
ability to edit a page's layout and formatting while viewing the page.
E.g. if text is too small, then you can select it and increas the font size
of that page/paragraph/section. If a text field is drawn too small on
screen, you can drag it to make it bigger. Or if there's a particular
fixed-width page that you hate, then you can forcibly drag the table it's
in to make it bigger.
This goes in line with the CSS idea of seperating content and layout, and
other browsers support similar things (e.g. changing the font size for the
entire page, providing 'user' CSS pages to give default settings, etc.).
Ideally the user would be able to save the settings for a page/site so that
the next time they visit the same layout is used.
Any thoughts on this?
Cheers,
Jeffrey

[Netsurf-develop] NetSurf Documentation
by Andrew Duffell
I was wondering what documentation we are going to have with NetSurf. I am
sure there will be the obligitary !help file, but are we going to put it all
in there or use a HTML or PDF file as well.

[Netsurf-develop] Is this reproducable?
by Stefaan Claes
Hello,
I have uploaded a small html page and a small jpeg image to my website to
find out if the following is reproducable:
Go to <http://www.archimedes.be/JPEGtest.html>
there is one link to a small jpeg image: click on it.
When the jpeg is loaded (and displayed), click menu.
If NetSurf doesn't quit, go back to the first webpage
and try again. Eventually NetSurf will quit.
