Hello,
I'm wondering about: within the NetSurf port for GEM (Atari) I open an
plain text file, but newlines are not converted to line breaks.
I guess this can be solved easily, can somebody give me an hint on what
to do to make an NS port view text files "properly"?
Another question/topic:
what do the NS developers prefer: an Atari GEM port within the official
SVN, or should I setup an forked SVN repository? I'm just asking because
I can remember someone said that he doesn't want to have unsupported
ports within the Makefile... I'm getting near to an version which I want
to check-in somewhere... and although I'm keeping up the development
when I got the port how I want it to be, I'm not sure how often I will
update the port to new NetSurf code. So maybe my code is not build-able
for some month, when someone changes NetSurfs core code ...

I'd say the "View Source" menu entry opens the actual file, mostly for
viewing but also debugging, and I'm not sure altering the CR/LF in it before opening
is best.
However if the application you use is only for viewing, I suppose it doesn't matter
much.

see...
The BeOS port regularly breaks but once in a while I try to at least fix it. Since most is
in the beos/ subfolder it shouldn't harm much anyway.
Though I'll probably end up dropping BeOS support in favor of Haiku only at some
point, since C89 fixes seem to tickle some people, and I'm probably the 2nd to last
remaining user of BeOS on this planet. ;-)

window....

Not sure what you meant with C89 fixes, but I'm using gcc 4.5 for the
development. ;)

Oh, you mean file://.../foo.txt ? This seems odd, but I use LF in BeOS just as on UNIX, so
I probably never noticed this.
Doesn't Atari use CR LF anyway ? LF should break the line at least, and CR not be
displayed.

Ok, maybe my fault - but I though this would happen because netsurf
renders the plain text file as HTML!

Hmm it shouldn't, unless it misdetects it as html, if your code hints it wrongly.
You might want to instrument the MIME-type detection hooks to dump the guessed type.

OK, I was thinking about that, but there is no easy method to detect
the MIME type... ( I could make use of the file extension .txt - but
most plaint text files will slip through the detection...). But I will
give a try - just to see if that helps! :) Thanks.
