[ANNOUNCE] The morphs repository is now renamed to definitions
by Richard Maw
Hello everyone.
In case it wasn't made clear, we're not providing the same transition
guarantee between Baserock 13 and Baserock 14, so we can make more
significant changes to how morph works than we'd otherwise be able in
the time frame.
Two parts of this are:
1. Changing where we store the morphologies from baserock:baserock/morphs
to baserock:baserock/definitions, since it has been a point of
confusion as to the difference between baserock:baserock/morph and
baserock:baserock/morphs.
2. All cluster, system and stratum morphologies are going to be in the
same morphologies repository. We used to support loading stratum
morphologies from a different repository, but we had most of our
morphologies in baserock:baserock/morphs anyway, which proved
sufficient for our needs, and the code required to support getting
morphologies from other repositories was intricate and fragile.
As a result, since we don't support stratum morphologies from a
different repository anyway, the repo and ref fields for them are
going away.
To prevent sudden, unexpected breakages from the repo and ref fields
going away, the baserock:baserock/morphs repository is going to remain
as it is, without the repo and ref deletion, and future development will
be done in the baserock:baserock/definitions repository.
